The Adjunct hybrid faculty roles teach assigned courses in person and asynchronously online. This role also maintains office hours as assigned. Strayer University is seeking a dynamic Adjunct Faculty member to join our academics team. We are currently in search of a passionate professor for undergraduate-level Psychology classes for the upcoming Summer 2024 quarter, starting July 4, 2024, in a hybrid format. The hybrid format is described as teaching the course in both the in-person and online modalities. This role requires 11 in-person meeting sessions for 2 hours every week held at a predetermined scheduled time (day/evening) at a specific Strayer University Campus. The balance of the course is instructed asynchronously online.Strayer Adjunct Faculty are not just instructors; they are also coaches and mentors. Our faculty members strive to ignite a life-long love of learning in our students and to be flexible with their diverse learning styles. We believe in a strong faculty-student relationship and building a community in the classroom. Teach courses as assigned from a pre-designed curriculum and utilize your professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction.Enhance the strength and effectiveness of the curriculum using technology and videos.Arrive on-campus at least half an hour before the start time of in-person sessions per week during the academic quarter.Utilize the online learning platform to enrich the student learning experience for the online component of the course.Be available to students via email, phone, text, and office hours to ensure students receive quality feedback in a timely manner to support their academic success.Establish high standards and ensure students understand how they will be evaluated.Adhere to University policies and procedures.Attend faculty meetings and workshops or training as required. Job Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of academic technology.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) software and overall computer skills.Demonstrated knowledge of academic evaluation.Proficiency in oral presentation skills, planning, and organizing of course objectives.Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Excellent oral and written communication skills.Effective time management skills. Work Experience: Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience are strongly preferred. Education: Master's degree in Psychology OR Master's degree in a related discipline (sociology, education, or counseling) with at least 12 graduate semester credits in psychology and/or counseling. Coursework must include developmental psychology, personality and human development, learning, and motivation required.A terminal degree, or work towards a terminal degree, is preferred. Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Professional certification in discipline specialty (if applicable). Other: Must be able to travel weekly to required location(s).Must be able to lift 25 lbs.Typical office setting.Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.Access information using a computer.Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.Effectively cope with stressful situations.Strong mental acuity.Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.Other essential functions and marginal job functions are subject to modification.
